“Adagio for Strings” Samuel Barber
In Western classical music, Barber’s “Adagio” is a high point in 20th-century American romanticism. Without it, the soundtrack of modern Western tragedy—from WWII to contemporary crises—would lack its most poignant voice. Here performed as an entirely vocal piece by the youth of The Netherlands in Rotterdam’s Sint-Janskathedraal.
