In 1978 the The Herman Miller company — headquartered in Ann Arbor Michigan — founded a non-profit facility management organization now known as the International Facility Management Association.  One of its sister organizations, specializing in the stewardship of worship spaces meets periodically in Grand Rapids Michigan.
