College football bowl games originated in 1902 with the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California to boost tourism. The University of Michigan so dominated Stanford 49-0, that the game was paused football until 1916, when PAC-10 teams were good enough to complete with young men from the Midwest. Eventually it became known as the first and only —nicknamed “The Granddaddy of Them All.” Last night, Michigan’s Big Ten cohort–the Indiana Hoosiers–crushed the Oregon Ducks in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, 56-22.
