Dormitory, Fraternity, Sorority and Barrack Structure Fires
During the five-year period from 2011-2015, U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated annual average of 4,100 structure fires in dormitories, fraternities, sororities, and barracks. These fires caused an annual average of 35 civilian fire injuries, and $14 million in direct property damage. This report provides information about structure fires in dormitories, fraternity and sorority houses, monasteries, bunk houses, barracks, and nurses’ quarters or related properties reported to local fire departments
