John Edgar Browning, a University at Buffalo doctoral student in American studies, has written a number of books and journal articles about vampires in general and Dracula figures in particular. Monsters, he says, are “cultural constructions of the terrible that define what it is we subconsciously fear and what it is we’re told to hate or love.”
