Rooibos Tea (“The Red Espresso”) is obtained through the infusion of dried leaves or stems of Aspalathus linearis. It has a reddish-brown color and a sweet, slightly nutty flavor that is often compared to vanilla. The plant grows only in a microclimate mountain region in Cape Town. The recently received European Union designation promotes South African gastronomic heritage and genetic resources.
