At $55 billion, the State of Texas “System’s” endowment is the largest among U.S. public universities.  Its growth has been significantly fueled by revenues from oil and gas royalties, particularly from lands managed under the Permanent University Fund which benefits 13 universities in the portfolio. It is larger than Harvard’s $50B and the University of Michigan’s $18B.
