Dan Forrest’s cover of a traditional hymn in Christendom does not begin with the familiar hymn tune at all. It opens instead with an original introduction taking inspiration form Romans 8:31–32 — “If God be for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son…” — before opening onto Charles Wesley’s triumphant Ascension text set to the Welsh tune “Llanfair”. This mimics a journey from assurance through suffering to celebration thus making it a favorite Easter and Ascension anthem.
