2029 National Electrical Code Panel 3
The University of Michigan has supported the voice of the United States education facility industry since 1993 -- the second longest tenure of any voice in the United States. That voice has survived several organizational changes but remains intact and will continue its Safer-Simpler-Lower Cost-Longer Lasting advocacy on Code Panel 3 in the 2029 Edition. Public Input will be received until April 9, 2026.
Management of Assets in Power Systems
The Japanese Standards Association is the Global Secretariat for a standardization project devoted to the discovery and promulgatation of common methods and guidelines for coordinated lifetime management of network assets in power systems to support good asset management. In addition, this may include the development of new methods and guidelines required to keep pace with development of electrotechnologies excluding generation assets; covered by other IEC standards.
Electrical Resource Adequacy
FERC's cornerstone legislation is the Federal Power Act of 1935 and thereby enforces energy laws, approves infrastructure projects, and regulates market competition. As an independent agency within the Department of Energy its jurisdiction stems directly from statutory frameworks rather than the executive branch alone. Voting Precincts
Today is an "off-year" federal election but there are many appeals to voters for more money to build new, or expand or maintain educational settlements. We may have to pick through a few bond offerings. We maintain an ongoing concern for the security of polling places; many which are located in schools, colleges and universities.
Current Issues and Recent Research
We examine the proposals for the 2028 National Electrical Safety Code; including our own. The 2026 National Electrical Code which has recently been released for public use (public input on the 2029 revision will be received until April 9, 2026). We have one electrical proposal on the agenda of the International Code Council's Committee Action Hearings in Cleveland October 22-30. We begin coverage of satellite-based internet service to community colleges.
