Simple answer is YES.
Either cultural appropriation goes both ways or it’s nonsense.
If a white person has cornrows then wears a red/black/gold hat and it’s classified as cultural appropriation, then a black person straightening their hair or putting on a shirt tie and suit is also cultural appropriation. To not have this work both ways is blatantly racist.
Dreadlocks/dreads/locs on the other hand were standard hair styles in Briton 2000 year ago, so that is definitely not appropriated from another culture. Anyone that leaves their hair unkempt will result in locs. just look at Hindu ascetics, they have natural matted locs.
The whole concept of cultural appropriation is utter BS. It is nothing more than a way to devide people who are actaully innocently assimilating aspects of another culture. Look at the millions or kids who play football(soccer) in Africa, is that cultural appropriation because I’m pretty sure many of them would not even be aware that the game was invented in the UK.
PEOPLE stop creating division where none is needed or wanted.
Should white people listen to black music to the exclusion of white musical tradition.
