Limestone
IU's Bloomington campus is renowned for its architecture featuring a limestone quarried locally in nearby Monroe and Lawrence Counties. The coordinated use of local limestone for most of its buildings not only reflects regional heritage and fire-resistant practicality but also contributes to the campus's reputation as one of America's most beautiful, with its pale, timeless facades enhancing green spaces for about 50K students and 20K faculty and staff 200-odd miles from urban dystopia of Chicagoland.
“IU Indy”
The Indiana University satellite campus in Indianapolis, traces its roots to 1891 when IU first offered classes in the city. The Capital Planning & Facilities Department audits about 70 buildings totaling about 8 million square feet built across 300 acres; with a 1300 bed hospital co-operated with the Methodist Church.

Innovation Center
The Center provides office and lab space for start-up companies, as well as assistance with business development, intellectual property protection, and trademark expertise. Start-up companies in the new facility have access to extensive resources on the Bloomington campus.
2029 National Electrical Code Panel 15
Today examine the technical concepts under the purview of Code Panel 15; among them: Article 120 Part VI, Article 517 Health Care Facilities, Article 518 Assembly Occupancies, Article 520 Theaters...and Performance Areas, Article 525 Carnivals, Circuses, Fairs and Similar Events, Article 530 Motion Picture and Television Studios. New proposals will be received until April 9th.
Current Issues & Recent Research
We examine the proposals for the 2028 National Electrical Safety Code; including our own. Public comment on proposed changes will be received until March 24th. The 2026 National Electrical Code which has recently been released for public use (public input on the 2029 revision will be received until April 9, 2026).
Pathway Illumination
IoT lighting systems have three properties coveted by key segments of the developing IoT market: ubiquity, vantage point, and access to power. It is wise to follow standardization in this domain from the standpoint of managing risk aggregations in campus pathway lighting. Some of the first principles are now being established in a relatively new IES IoT title.
