It is not too soon to think about spring flowers. The long slog through the dreary months on North American and European campuses inspires a revisit of standards that figure heavily into exterior "campus ambiance". Ask any college or university marketing department about the value proposition they present to families and communities and, apart from the degree, they are selling goodwill created by beautiful buildings, landscaping and gardens. #StandardsOhio
One of the underpinning of the "customer experience" of school children, dormitory residents, patients in university-hospitals and even sports fans at large athletic events (such as football game) is the safety and quality of food. ASABE is one of the first names in standards setting in this space and throws off a fairly steady stream of public commenting opportunities.
The condition of campus gardens, tree and landscaping is a central element of ambiance, brand identify and environmental instruction and even legacy revenue. The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) will soon be updating a standard relevant to our #TotalCostofOwnership agenda. StandardsNewHampshire

During 2019 we are rolling out our user-interest advocacy platform to school districts, colleges, universities and university-affiliated healthcare systems in all 50-states. To lower #TotalCostofOwnership for the emergent #SmartCampus every state will have to be managed according to its history, culture, governance regime, asset-base and network of expertise. #StandardsAlabama
Athletic and recreation programs are central to the brand identity and health of the state and host community. ASTM International is one of the first names among the 250-odd ANSI accredited consensus document developers whose due processes discover and promulgate the standard of care for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of the facilities that support these enterprises.
Recreational sports, athletic competition, and the facilities that support it, are one of the most visible activities in any school, college or university. They have requirements for safety and sustainability at the same scale as the academic and healthcare enterprises. Athletic programs can make or break the reputation of an educational institution.
