Accepted Good Practice:
Proposed Rebuttal
Accepted Good Practice (AGP) in the electrical power industry refers to the methods, procedures, standards, and behaviors that are widely recognized by competent professionals as appropriate, safe, and effective for designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining electrical power systems. It reflects what a reasonable and skilled practitioner would be expected to do under similar circumstances, based on current knowledge and experience. AGP is informed by a combination of factors, including national and international standards, industry codes, manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and lessons learned from operational history and incident investigations. It is not static; rather, it evolves as technology advances, risks are better understood, and standards are updated. Adhering to Accepted Good Practice helps ensure system reliability, safety of personnel and the public, protection of assets, and compliance with legal and regulatory obligations. In many jurisdictions, AGP is also used as a benchmark in audits, incident reviews, and legal proceedings to assess whether appropriate care and diligence have been exercised.
