Matcha Latte

Spoon University, a digital food magazine for college students, was founded in 2013 by Mackenzie Barth and Sarah Adler, then seniors at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The idea sparked in 2012 when the duo moved into an off-campus apartment and struggled with basic cooking, realizing many peers faced similar challenges. They launched a campus blog sharing simple recipes, dining tips, and food trends, quickly growing to 100 Northwestern contributors. Demand spread organically, leading to chapters at over 100 colleges worldwide and thousands of student writers. By 2017, it was acquired by Her Campus Media, reaching millions.
