One study, published in the Journal Social Forces in 2012, found that women’s educational preferences for a potential partner have been changing over time. The study found that in the 1960s and 1970s, women were more likely to prefer men with higher levels of education than themselves, while in the 1990s and 2000s, women were more likely to prefer partners with similar levels of education. The study also found that women’s educational preferences were influenced by their own educational attainment and the gender ratio of their college campus.

Another study, published in the journal Demography in 2015, found that women’s educational preferences for a potential partner varied depending on their own educational background and the gender ratio of their local area. The study found that women with higher levels of education were more likely to prefer men with similar levels of education, while women with lower levels of education were more likely to prefer men with higher levels of education. The study also found that women in areas with a higher ratio of men to women were more likely to prefer men with higher levels of education.

While these studies suggest that young women’s preferences for college-educated men as marriage partners may be influenced by a variety of factors, it is important to recognize that individual preferences and behaviors can vary widely and are influenced by a wide range of factors. Additionally, any generalizations about the preferences of “young women” or any other group should be approached with caution, as these preferences can vary widely depending on factors such as age, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status.

Abstract: Numerous modern technologies are reliant on the low-phase noise and exquisite timing stability of microwave signals. Substantial progress has been made in the field of microwave photonics, whereby low-noise microwave signals are generated by the down-conversion of ultrastable optical references using a frequency comb^1,2,3. Such systems, however, are constructed with bulk or fibre optics and are difficult to further reduce in size and power consumption. In this work we address this challenge by leveraging advances in integrated photonics to demonstrate low-noise microwave generation via two-point optical frequency division^4,5. Narrow-linewidth self-injection-locked integrated lasers^6,7 are stabilized to a miniature Fabry–Pérot cavity⁸, and the frequency gap between the lasers is divided with an efficient dark soliton frequency comb⁹. The stabilized output of the microcomb is photodetected to produce a microwave signal at 20 GHz with phase noise of −96 dBc Hz⁻¹ at 100 Hz offset frequency that decreases to −135 dBc Hz⁻¹ at 10 kHz offset—values that are unprecedented for an integrated photonic system. All photonic components can be heterogeneously integrated on a single chip, providing a significant advance for the application of photonics to high-precision navigation, communication and timing systems.

Chicken Shepard’s Pie

This traditional Irish dish originated as a thrifty way to repurpose leftover meat. In the late 18th century, the concept evolved from using lamb or mutton, commonly tended by shepherds, hence the name. The dish typically comprises minced meat — lamb, beef or chicken — cooked with vegetables and gravy, topped with mashed potatoes.

Ingredients:
• 1 can chicken, drained
• ½ can canned sliced potatoes
• 2 tsp onion powder
• ½ cup canned peas, drained
• 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tbsp butter
• Splash of milk
• 2 tsp salt
• 2 tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
1. Heat potatoes in microwave safe bowl, ~2 mins. Mash the potatoes with the milk and butter, a Teaspoon each of salt, pepper, and garlic powder, stir well. Adjust seasoning. Set aside.
2. Add remaining ingredients, stir well.
3. Spoon the mashed potatoes evenly on top of the meat.
4. Cook covered in the microwave oven for 3-5 minutes on medium power.
5. Cut into 2 portions. Scoop out from the bottom to keep the layers intact.
