Maslenitsa “Pancake Week”

Also called "Butter Week" or "Pancake Week," Maslenitsa is a Slavic festival marking the end of winter. People eat blini (thin pancakes), symbolizing the sun, and celebrate with sledding, folk dances, and bonfires. The week ends with "Forgiveness Sunday," where people ask each other for forgiveness before Lent begins.
