The University Farm as Micro-City

Many land grant settlements resemble a small city compressed into an agricultural landscape: electrical distribution, water and wastewater, roads, buildings, vehicle fleets, fuel storage, communications, fire protection, laboratories, housing and food systems—plus hazards a conventional campus rarely has. In some respects it's **more complicated than a micro-city**, because the infrastructure must coexist with livestock, heavy mobile machinery, dust, moisture, corrosive atmospheres, pesticides and seasonal labor.
