The American Society of Heating & Refrigeration Engineers (ASHRAE)has released an Advisory Public Review Draft of its standard 42P Indoor Air Quality in Commercial and Institutional Buildings that is now open for public comment.   From the ASHRAE 42P prospectus:

Purpose.  The purpose of this guideline is to recommend measures that exceed minimum requirements for improving indoor air quality in commercial and institutional buildings. These measures are intended to provide enhanced indoor air quality that is acceptable to human occupants and that minimizes adverse
health effects.

Scope.  This guideline applies to spaces intended for human occupancy within commercial and institutional buildings except those within dwelling units in residential occupancies in which occupants are nontransient.  This guideline provides recommendations related to certain sources, and for ventilation and aircleaning-system
design, installation, commissioning, and operation and maintenance.

Comments are due June 17th.  ASHRAE invites anyone to comment on the development of ASHRAE 42 or any other of its consensus documents on its public input page linked below:

The ASHRAE suite is a swiftly moving suite which effectively sets the standard of care for environmental air systems in education and healthcare facilities.  Many of its committees meet twice a year at various locations around the US; the next Annual conference to be hosted in Houston, June 23-27.   We encourage workpoint subject matter experts in the Houston area — i.e. design, construction and O&M tradespersons working in education and healthcare campus HVAC shops — to attend this conference and sit in on the meetings of ASHRAE 42 (or any other technical committee) to observe how leading practice is discovered and driven into the education facilities industry.
