ISO/TC 215 operates in the field of health informatics, creating standards for information and communications technology (ICT) in health to promote interoperability between independent systems, to enable compatibility and consistency of health information and data, as well as to reduce duplication of effort.  Health informatics standards developed by ISO/TC 215 are aimed at supporting the growing use of ICT in the health system ("eHealth")
