On September 9, NHTSA finalized amendments to FMVSS 213/213a/213b. Among other things, the rule exempts school-bus child-restraint systems from the FMVSS 213a side-impact requirements, subject to labeling requirements, because those restraints and school-bus crash environments differ from conventional child seats/passenger vehicles. It also changes anchorage and labeling provisions specifically for school-bus restraints.
