We follow the construction spend rate of the US education industry; using the US Census Bureau Construction Spending figures released the first day of every month.

We encourage our colleagues in the education facilities industry to respond to Census Bureau-retained data gathering contractors in order to contribute to the accuracy of the report.

Today at 16:00 UTC we refresh our understanding of the technical standards for the timing-systems that maintain the temporal framework for daily life in education communities.  The campus clock continues as a monument of beauty and structure even though digitization of everything has rendered the central community clock redundant.

Most leading practice discovery (and innovation) is happening with the Network Time Protocols (NTP) that synchronize the time stamps of widely separated data centers.  In operation since before 1985, NTP is one of the oldest Internet protocols in current use and underlies the Internet of Things build out.  NTP is particularly important in maintaining accurate time stamps for safety system coordination and for time stamps on email log messages.

The first integrated circuit (IC) was invented by Jack Kilby at Texas Instruments in 1958. Kilby’s invention laid the foundation for modern microelectronics. He was awarded the patent for the integrated circuit in 1961. His work was independently pursued by Robert Noyce at Fairchild Semiconductor, who also developed his own version of the integrated circuit around the same time. Noyce’s design eventually became the basis for the integrated circuits we commonly use today.

Jack Kilby was awarded the patent for the integrated circuit on February 6, 1962.

Covers of a 1926 American Classic by Billy Rose and Lee David — both successful songwriters and composers in the music industry during the early to mid-20th century.  Billy Rose was a renowned Broadway producer, lyricist, and impresario known for his contributions to musical theater. He was involved in producing and writing lyrics for many Broadway shows.  Lee David, whose real name was Leonard David Flatau, was a songwriter and composer who collaborated with various musicians and lyricists during his career.  Neither had direct affiliations with colleges or universities in their professional lives, their work has been studied and appreciated by scholars and musicians in the context of American popular music and musical theater history.

Many research universities have large medical research and clinical delivery enterprises that provide significant revenue.   We periodically scan public consultations for literature that sets the standard of care for the facilities and technologies in these enterprises in education communities.

Today we explain our collaboration with other like-minded units in education communities in the US and other nations.  In most cases we conform to participation requirements set by ANSI US Technical Advisory Groups to the International Organization for Standardization but we also have liaison with other universities in the European Union who conform to the participation requirements of their own national standards bodies.

The tradition of women proposing to men during leap years has its roots in folklore and legend. One of the most commonly cited origins of this tradition comes from Irish folklore, specifically associated with St. Bridget and St. Patrick. According to legend, St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait too long for men to propose. In response, St. Patrick supposedly designated February 29th, which occurs only during leap years, as a day when women could propose to men.

This tradition gained popularity over time and became associated with Leap Day, which occurs approximately every four years to adjust the calendar to account for the Earth’s orbit around the sun. It became a playful custom in some cultures for women to take the initiative and propose marriage during this extra day, flipping the traditional gender roles.

While the tradition may have originated in folklore, in modern times, it is often seen more as a fun and lighthearted tradition rather than a strict social expectation.
